Five people were arrested Tuesday after a vehicle attempted to elude capture from Oregon State Police in Jefferson County.
Just after 10:30 a.m., Feb. 25, 2014, an Oregon State Police (OSP) sergeant initiated a traffic stop on a 1999 Dodge Intrepid with Washington license plates for a speeding violation on Highway 97 south of Madras.

The driver of the vehicle did not yield, instead eluding capture and traveling onto SW Bear Dr., where the sergeant lost sight of the Intrepid.
Additional OSP troopers responded to the area, and vehicle tracks were located in the area of SE Jasper Rd. and SE Imbler Lane. They subsequently found the Intrepid unoccupied at 12:07 p.m.
OSP troopers, with some help from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement and Warm Springs Police Department K-9, continued to search the area for the suspects. Three suspects were located at about 1:30 p.m., with two of them being apprehended and arrested. The third suspect fled capture at the time.
The driver, Allison Maye Eldred, 31, of Vancouver, Wash., was arrested as a fugitive from justice on a warrant out of Washington and lodged in Deschutes County Jail.
Her passenger, Nicholas S. Eldred, 34, of Portland, was arrested on a charge of conspiracy to possess and manufacture methamphetamine and lodged in Jefferson County Jail. Police seized fifty grams of methamphetamine from Eldred.

On Tuesday evening, OSP and the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement (CODE) team located the suspect who fled custody earlier, Dustin James Nash, 42, of La Pine, during a traffic stop north of Terrebonne. Investigation revealed Nash had contacted some friends and arranged for them to pick him up after he avoided capture earlier in the day.
Nash was arrested and lodged in Jefferson County Jail on charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, felony attempt to elude by vehicle, reckless endangering and unlawful possession, distribution and manufacture of methamphetamine.
Nash’s two friends, Benjamin Dean Morganti, 45, and Julia Lynn Pinckney, 42, both of La Pine, were arrested on a charge of hindering prosecution.
