UPDATE: Driver in I-105 Crash Helped Save Victim’s Life with CPR

UPDATE: Feb 15, 2:35 p.m. EPD reported the driver, Shanel M. Presley, was coached over the phone after the accident in CPR by Central Lane 9-1-1 operators, and was assisted by first responder, EPD officer Lori Barnes. The victim, Sylvia R. Titus is expected to survive, and the quick action taken by Presley and Barnes was instrumental in Titus’ improving condition.

UPDATE: Feb. 13, 3:00 p.m. – Eugene Police identified the woman who was struck in yesterday’s I-105 crash as Sylvia Rose Titus, 22. She has no known address, and is reported to be in critical condition at a local hospital.

UPDATE: Feb. 12, 9:36 p.m. – Eugene Police have identified the name of the driver involved as Shanel M. Presley, 26, of Harrisburg.

Eugene Police reported I-105 westbound is closed at Delta Hwy. Police, fire and EMS personnel are responding to an incident in which an unidentified female was standing at the center media of I-105, and attempted to cross the westbound lanes of the freeway. She was struck by a white pick-up truck operated by a 26-year-old female at approximately 5:44 p.m.

EPD reports traffic was very heavy at the time of the accident, and preliminary reports indicate alcohol is not a factor in the incident. The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

I-105 is expected to be shut down until about 11 p.m., based on information from EPD.
