For those Duck fans that enjoy flying close to their flock, Lane Today thought it would be nice to give you a brief history lesson on what the Oregon Ducks will be up against in terms of environments. We all know there is no other place like Autzen Stadium, but there are plenty other stadia across the college football landscape that have their own certain form of potentially intimidating atmosphere for visiting opponents. In all, the Ducks will play in a total of three different time zones on the road this season, including a trip out to the East Coast, which is where we’ll start our tour.

Game Against Oregon: September 7th
Capacity: 61,500
Notable Feature: Grass Hill Seating on the northwest corner of the stadium spanning the endzone.
Notable Game: 11/2/1995 #24 Virginia 33, #2 Florida State 28. The Cavaliers handed the Seminoles their first ACC loss since they joined the conference in 1992 on the first ever Thursday night game at Scott Stadium.
Tradition: The University of Virginia takes part in the same tradition many SEC schools follow which is men attending football games wearing a coat and tie while women wear sundresses. This tradition has been relaxed with current students who often opt to wear orange t-shirts instead. Virginia’s mascot, the Cavalier, also leads the football team onto the field before the game while riding horseback.

Game Against Oregon: October 5th
Capacity: 53,613
Notable Feature: A real-life buffalo, Ralphie, leads the football team onto the field pre-game
Notable Game: 09/29/1990 #20 Colorado 20, #12 Washington 14. The Buffaloes come up with a close win against the Huskies en-route to Colorado’s first and only national championship.
Setting: Folsom Field is known for having breathtaking views from the Flatirons in the backdrop and, on a clear day, the ability to see the Continental Divide.

Game Against Oregon: October 12th
Capacity: 71,900
Notable Feature: Husky Stadium just underwent a massive renovation over the past two years, and the newly-modernized stadium will open August, 31st.
Notable Game: 09/09/2000 #15 Washington 34, #4 Miami 29. Huskies defeat the Hurricanes before they go on an unbeaten streak that lasted until the 2003 Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State.
Setting: The east endzone of Husky Stadium borders Lake Washington and it is a game-day tradition for boats to flock near that opening to see if they can catch a glimpse of the game.

Game Against Oregon: November 7th
Capacity: 50,360
Notable Feature: Stanford Stadium has played host to the Summer Olympics, FIFA Mens and Womens World Cup, as well as served as the location for Herbert Hoover’s acceptance speech for the 1928 presidential nomination.
Notable Game: Before the old stadium was demolished to make way for the current one in 2005, Stanford Stadium played host to Super Bowl XIX which saw the San Francisco 49ers win, becoming the only team to win the Super Bowl when it was hosted in their region.
History: Before 1972, the Stanford football team was known as the Stanford Indians before outrage from Native American students forced the name to be dropped and changed to Cardinals and later Cardinal.

Game Against Oregon: November 23rd
Capacity: 56,037
Notable Feature: Two college dormitories are built into the south stands of the stadium.
Notable Game:10/10/1998 #3 UCLA 52, #11 Arizona 28. The Wildcats have their lone loss of the 1998 season against the Bruins. Arizona would end up with a 12-1 record and finish ranked fourth in the final polls.
Students: The student section at Arizona Stadium, the Zona Zoo, is one of the largest student sections in the Pac-12 with 10,000 seats.
